One way to intervene if you observe harassment in the workplace is by using the Direct method—one of the 5 D’s of bystander intervention.

If you see something that makes you or someone else uncomfortable, try to interrupt the situation by calling it out—only if it’s safe to do so.

Afterward, report the incident to a supervisor and talk to the person engaging in the behavior about why it was inappropriate.
