Black History Month was created in 1926 by the Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson and Minister Jesse E. Moorland. They choose the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. The event inspired schools and communities nationwide to organize local celebrations.

President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976 and every U.S. president after has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

Halloween is Just Around the Corner
Welcome back to Parker Tide’s culture corner. Autumn and Halloween activities in the DC area are looking a bit different this year. Bulky sweaters, crackling fires, and pumpkin patches are back and we are ready to enjoy. Whether you are looking for Halloween frights, apple picking, or ghost stories, there is something for everyone. Boo at the Zoo is a trick or treat event drive-through style. Drive the mile-long route through the zoo. Enjoy spooky sights like witches, vampires, and Count Pandula. For the more adventurous, there are Washington, DC Ghost
Tours. These historic tours reveal the spookier side of DC history. Hear stories of DC’s early history filled with conspiracies, crimes, and duels. There are also several pumpkin patches, farms, and festivals in the area that have outdoor
Halloween themed activities. Please keep social distancing and mask wearing in mind. Most activities require tickets and timed entry so plan ahead. Enjoy!

We are currently seeking a IT Auditor to work on-site for one of our Federal Government clients located in Washington, DC. The IT Auditor requires an Active Secret clearance. The Required skills are 4+ years of IT Audit experience working for a Federal oversight entity such as the Office of Inspector General (OIG) or the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Undergraduate degree required (accounting preferred). Knowledge of audit terminology and process.
