Make a splash this summer while learning life-saving water safety skills 💙💦

Our Splash Into Safety program returns next week, bringing a mobile pool directly to families in Walterboro and St. George. Now in its fourth year locally, this impactful program has helped teach critical water safety skills to hundreds of children across our communities.

For just $5, children ages 5–12 will learn essential swim and water safety skills, including floating, treading water, and techniques that can help prevent drowning.

🌀 Hurricane Season 2026 is Here 🌀

June 1 officially starts the time of year we all wish would just wonder off to sea, where hurricanes should stay. Official predictions are calling for a below average season, 🙏🤞. While these predictions are nice, it only takes one storm to leave a community in total devastation. You need to have a plan! Colleton County has a robust emergency operations plan and vast team of highly skilled individuals that are the best in the industry. However, Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." We need all residents to take hurricane season seriously. We know the spaghetti models, the cone of uncertainty, and media frenzy when a storm spins up can be overwhelming. Some of you likely say, "Why do we even listen, nothing happens," until it does. Historically speaking, we are long overdue for a major impact. Please, prepare your homes and your family.

The SENIOR P.R.E.P. program is designed to provide planning resources to aid South Carolina's senior population in emergency planning.

We have a community event in Walterboro on May 29 where Senior P.R.E.P. partners will be attending.

This event is open to the public and will offer free emergency information and materials. There will be a limited supply of emergency kits available.

📌P.R.E.P. stands for Planning and Resources for Emergency Preparedness.
The theme for Senior P.R.E.P. is Plan Ahead. Stay Ahead. Have You Prepared?
This is an opportunity for you to come talk to subject matter experts and collect emergency materials.
