Project Excite is a United States Department of Labor grant program which provides up to $5,000 of funding for IT and Cybersecurity trainings which lead to certifications as well as degrees.
Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must be at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma, or equivalent and reside in one of the following counties: Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Fulton, Montgomery, and Schoharie. The training program needs to be completed by June of 2024.
Trainings can be provided by local SUNY colleges. In our region, Fulton Montgomery Community College has been working closely with Project Excite and offers the following degree programs funded by the grant:
A.A.S. Computer Information Systems
A.S. Networking & Cybersecurity
A.S. Computer Science
Certificate (1 year) - Individual Studies (Internship required)
