Founded in 2012, we combine a mixture of events, outreach, and fundraising to encourage women geoscientists in central PA. We are currently the only active chapter of AWG in the northeast US, and we have more than 20 active members. Everyone is invited to join us for any of our activities, including breakfasts with women in geoscience careers, our annual chili and dessert cook-off fundraiser, social events (including potlucks, hiking, caving), and outreach opportunities!

Fall Fest!!! 🎃🍂

We had a great turnout of 22% of all the grad students, as well as some faculty, post-docs, and friends/family of geoscience folk! This event helped us raise money to support the undergraduate field camp scholarships, as well as giving us a great time for comradery, enjoying the beautiful fall weather, and eating some delicious pizza and seasonal sweets.

The carving competition was tough, but we had some clear winners with Sara Kimmig taking first place (scary jack o lantern), Emilie Saucier (volcano) and Taylor Gray (skull) tying for second, Roger Ort (cat) getting third place, and Hanna Leapaldt (eye of Sauron) winning the least likable pumpkin. However, the best pumpkin by far was Finn Lindsey-Barnes, who we didn't let compete because there was no way anyone else would win against him. Thanks to all for coming out!

Building on the resounding success of our last AWG trivia night, we will be hosting another trivia night on April 15th at 6:30pm. Our very own Trivia Master, Ben Barnes will host! The cover of $5 per person will go to support undergraduate field camp scholarships. Please venmo Adam Benfield (Adam-Benfield-3 on Venmo, i.e. the one with the giant sequoia pic), several days prior to the event. You can sign yourself and your team up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LJxghrsIvwJDU6dFvZxX1Wh94XNSwZayCWCt2qpbzT4/edit?usp=sharing. Zoom link to follow.
