Summary:

The Department Lead will be responsible for assisting the Production Manager and Plant Manager with daily tasks; they will concentrate on assigned area. They will oversee, coach and mentor Team Leads and Assistant Team Leads/Trainers.

Daily Operating Procedures

* Drive and maintain a Safety First culture in their area.
* Report any safety and/or quality concerns to the Plant Manager and Production Manager.
* Ensure the work force to be efficient and in compliance with company rules and industry regulatory compliance and GMPs
* Oversee and manage Team Leads and Assistant Team leads/trainers in their area
* Be able to effectively complete all job functions within their given area
* Accurately and efficiently complete all necessary paperwork (shop orders, production papers, metal detector papers, training documents, etc.) for their area
* Mediate employee concerns on the production floor and/or direct the employee to the appropriate member of management who can assist the employee, if they are unable to
* Conflict resolution between employees; must be able to resolve issues that arise
* Supervise all personnel in their area and maintain productive and disciplined work force by training, coaching, and when necessary, disciplining individual employees in their area
* Evaluate employees and collaborate with the Plant Manager and Production Manager to conduct annual reviews for employees.
* Work closely with QA to address all non-conforming and corrective actions related to production and sanitation
* Perform daily pre/post-shift inspections - identifying and correcting any problem areas
* Responsible for ensuring all lines within their areas are achieving all production targets and/or identifying problem areas and being an active participant in the correction of any issues.
* Spends majority of time on the production floor and is familiar with all production lines in their area
* Must have capability and understanding of production lines and equipment to make necessary operational adjustments and assist with simple maintenance corrections.
* Ability to identify and communication immediate and preventative maintenance needs.
* Responsible for assisting in the training and on-boarding new hires
* Responsible for facilitating and assisting in the cross-training of employees
* Perform other duties/projects as requested by the Plant and/or Production Manager.
* Assist with areas of production that need assistance due to short staff/call-offs
* Must have strong people skills with the ability to coach and motivate hourly employees effectively.
* Must be an efficient verbal and written communicator
* Promote a pleasant, effective and efficient workplace for all employees
* Must have a positive attitude and outlook

Experience & Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma/G.E.D

Has appreciation for safety, quality control and meeting regulatory requirements. Motivated team-player

Strong communication skills

Previous Experience as Team Lead, Department Lead, Production Supervisor, or other leadership role required.
