Today was a 1st...

In the morning, I had a new engineering grad (2024) tell me the reason their summer of 2022 / 2023 experience was not shown was due to another recruiter saying leave it off due to no relevance to help them get an engineering job. (they worked at a bar/restaurant both summers) I gently advised them to add it back to show people and emotional intelligence (E.I.) skills. (skills we prefer to see IN all graduates!)

In the afternoon, a client VP of Operations (manufacturing) comments to me (half jokingly) their Sales GM prefers to hire the best bartenders as salespeople as they end up the best performers! When I told him a 'new grad' engr I just sent over had worked 2 summers at a bar/restaurant (I made notes since not on resume) -- the comment I get back... 'That engineer has people skills. I will be looking for that candidate when I review profiles tomorrow with Sales GM.'

You cannot make this stuff up!
