Yeah...

We want THAT one!

Season 2 of 86’d: Off The Clock Service Industry Confessions is coming, and we’re looking for the stories, the chaos, the ridiculous customers, the workplace drama, the questionable decisions, and the moments that still make you say…

“I cannot believe that actually happened.”

Great hospitality doesn’t happen without the people behind it.

When you see a bartender, server or event professional working an Ellis event, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes to make sure they’re prepared and supported.

We believe taking care of our contractors is an essential part of taking care of our clients.
Because when our people feel supported, they can focus on what they do best: creating great experiences.

It's National Dog Day!! 💕🐶

Does this have anything to do with hospitality?

Nope.

Does that matter?

Also nope. 😂

Because some things are simply worth celebrating - and man's best friend has more than earned a day of recognition.

One of my favorite moments from our conversation with Rene Hernandez, owner of The Cave:

“My thing has always been: you give love, you show love.”

That’s a pretty damn good philosophy for hospitality.

We talked with Rene about business, community, hospitality, and what it means to create a place where people actually feel welcome.

🎙️ The latest episode of Off the Clock: Service Industry Confessions featuring Rene Hernandez is out now.

Ellis Hospitality is a marketplace for connecting hospitality industry contractors with temporary event jobs. We understand “seasons of life” pretty well. Every year, we get to watch hundreds of contractors move through our system. Sometimes we see them for a single gig. Sometimes they become part of the Ellis family for years.

Andrea Brice is very much in that latter category.

For the past four years, we’ve had the privilege of watching Andrea grow with us. What began with working events grew into her own event planning business, AB Events, and eventually into her taking the lead as Ellis Hospitality’s Director of Planning.

Along the way, Andrea brought an incredible work ethic, an eye for detail, a ridiculous amount of talent, and that hard-to-define je ne sais quoi that can turn a good event into a spectacular one.

But seasons change.

And sometimes, changing seasons are something to celebrate.

Andrea is stepping away from her role as Director of Planning to focus more of her energy on teaching, her own work, and a pretty exciting new chapter in her personal life. At the end of December, she’ll marry Danny, a genuinely great guy who we’re thrilled to welcome into the Ellis orbit.

And while Andrea’s role with Ellis is changing, she isn’t going anywhere.

We’ll still see her working events with us, still doing what she does best, and still bringing that Andrea magic to the room.

We’re incredibly grateful for the four years we’ve shared with Andrea, for everything she has poured into Ellis, and for the relationships and memories that came along with it.

Some people are with you for a season.

Some people help shape the season you’re in.

And some people become part of the story, no matter what season comes next.

Andrea, thank you for being all three.

We can’t wait to see what your next season brings. ❤️

The best hospitality often goes unnoticed.

When everything feels effortless for the guest, it’s usually because someone behind the scenes worked incredibly hard to make it that way.

That’s what great hospitality looks like.

Teacher Feature 2026

Sometimes the most important learning in kindergarten looks a whole lot like playing.

Today we’re excited to spotlight Kaila Trepanier, a kindergarten teacher at Shedeck Elementary with Yukon Public Schools!

Kaila is beginning her fifth year of teaching at her Title I school, and one of the things she loves most about kindergarten is getting to watch just how much her students grow over the course of a single year.

But Kaila also recognizes something that can be easy to forget when we talk about academics: kindergartners are still little kids.

They’re asked to learn and absorb an incredible amount of information, which is why Kaila is intentionally working to bring more opportunities for free play and exploration into her classroom.

Through play centers, her students aren’t just playing. They’re learning how to communicate, cooperate, problem-solve, explore their interests, use their imaginations, and navigate the little social situations that help prepare them for the world outside the classroom.

And sometimes supporting a kindergarten classroom is even simpler than that.

Kaila’s wishlist includes extra snacks for students who need them, crayons, books, and materials to help build those play and exploration centers.

Our Teacher Feature drawing may be over, but Teacher Feature continues throughout August! We’re still introducing you to Oklahoma public school educators and sharing their classroom wishlists so our community can help fill classrooms one item at a time.

Thank you, Kaila, for giving your students a place to learn, explore, play, and simply be little.

Today’s Tulsa favorite is one that means a little more to us.

Take 2: A Resonance Café, operated by the Resonance Center for Women, helps women rebuilding their lives after incarceration through employment, housing support, and hands-on training in food preparation, restaurant operations, and customer service.

And this one is personal for Ellis.

We’ve had the privilege of hiring women coming through Take 2 and continuing that hospitality experience with Ellis, where our minimum pay is $20 an hour.

Because a second chance shouldn’t stop at training.

It should lead somewhere.

Right now, Take 2’s dining room is temporarily closed while they make a pretty exciting move: into a larger, purpose-built space that will allow them to serve more people, grow their catering program, and create even more jobs and training opportunities.

So today we aren’t telling you to go grab lunch.

We’re telling you to keep your eye on them.

A bigger Take 2 means more opportunities, more second chances, and more women getting the chance to build what comes next.

We cannot wait to see the new space.

And when those doors open, Tulsa, we’ll see you there.

Teacher Feature 2026

Today’s Teacher Feature takes us to Pauls Valley Intermediate, where we’re celebrating Kristine Porter, a 5th grade science teacher with Pauls Valley Public Schools!

Kristine grew up in Piedmont and earned her degree in Elementary Education from UCO. She began her career teaching 5th grade math and science in Putnam City before moving to Yukon, where she continued teaching and also served as a color guard director.

After marrying her husband, Jarrod, Kristine made the move to Pauls Valley, where she has now spent the last nine years teaching 5th grade science and coaching academic teams.

Outside the classroom, she’s also a mom to a little boy starting Pre-K this year and somehow finds time to make decorated sugar cookies on the side!

But one thing on Kristine’s wishlist especially caught our attention.

Translator pens.

Kristine would love to add them to her classroom to help her English-language learners and students with dyslexia access classroom materials with greater independence.

Sometimes a classroom wishlist isn’t about having more “stuff.” It’s about removing one more barrier between a student and the moment something finally clicks.

And that’s something we would LOVE to help with.

Our drawing may be over, but Teacher Feature continues throughout August! We’ll keep introducing you to Oklahoma public school educators and sharing their wishlists so our community can help fill classrooms one item at a time.

Thank you, Kristine, for helping make science and learning more accessible to every student who walks into your classroom.
