There are ups and downs in life. This was definitely an up. I’m so thankful that the National Guard has given me the opportunity that I wouldn’t normally have.

SPC Schemmer, HHC, 1-179 INF BN serving in the Battalion S1 Section, became the first member in her family to graduate from college. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Relations with Distinction. She attributes her ability to achieve this goal to her service in the organization and the benefit of the State Tuition Waiver. Congratulations on completing this accomplishment.

I joined the Oklahoma National Guard because I’ve always believed it would be the right thing to do. Giving back to the community and being there when other’s can not. Being in the National Guard also has its benefits. The guard helps with tuition assistance, healthcare, and lastly the guard allows me to have a civilian life style outside of my military duties.
