What do I do at Isaiah’s Place?
As Director of Family Services, I get to wear a lot of hats! I work with families from the beginning of their foster/adopt journey through licensing and beyond—training, supporting, problem-solving, developing programs, and helping our team make sure families and children in care have what they need to thrive.
Why do I love what I do?
Because families matter to me! I love helping caregivers understand the why behind a child’s behavior and giving them tools that build connection instead of just managing behavior. I also love getting to create new trainings, resources, and supports that make the foster care journey a little less overwhelming and remind families that they don’t have to do it alone.
How long have I done this?
I’ve spent more than 30 years working with children and families as a teacher, college instructor, administrator, trainer, and now in foster care and adoption. Each role has built on the one before it—and somehow I’m still learning something new all the time. ❤️

Our Child Advocacy Team had a great day participating in the Troy Mental Health Resource Fair with 80 other participants in the social service agencies in Miami County. They had information to share about the free trauma therapy they offer to child victims in your communities.

Teens in foster care will mock you for your outdated taste in music and emojis. But, they WILL fix your WIFI and teach you what skibbidy toilet means at midnight. So signing up is basically a no-brainer with free tech support.

What do I do at Isaiah’s Place?
My name is Nathaniel Roof, and I am a Senior Case Specialist at Isaiah’s Place. I oversee the Case Management Team and help support our caseworkers as they work with foster children and families. My role involves providing guidance, problem-solving, supporting our staff, and helping ensure that the children and families we serve receive the care and support they need throughout the foster care and adoption process.

Why do I love what I do?
I love what I do because of the people I have the opportunity to serve. I love my team and the relationships I have been able to build with the families and children at Isaiah’s Place. I also value the opportunity to share the love of Christ with people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to hear about His love. Being able to walk alongside families during what can be a very difficult and confusing season of life is incredibly rewarding. I enjoy providing practical guidance, encouragement, and support to families as they navigate the foster care and adoption process.

How long have I done this?
I have worked in foster care and at Isaiah’s Place for approximately three years.
