Position Overview:
Kwik Staff is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Senior Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and fully operational facilities on a university campus. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day custodial operations, support event set-ups, perform specialized floor care, and assist in guiding student workers.

Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Sanitation: Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, and common areas; vacuum, sweep, mop, strip, and refinish hard surface floors; shampoo carpets and upholstery; wash walls, windows, and woodwork; manage trash and recycling removal.
Specialized Floor Care: Utilize stone floor polishing equipment and specialized techniques to maintain stone surfaces.
Event Set-Up & Technical Support: Set up meeting rooms according to written diagrams and instructions (arranging tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and AV/sound equipment). Troubleshoot minor AV/technical issues during events, and clean/reset spaces after use.
Student Staff Coordination: Assist in coordinating student employee activities and serve as a knowledgeable resource for questions regarding room set-ups and daily assignments.
Building Safety & Security: Lock and unlock facilities; monitor spaces for damage or safety hazards; respond immediately to spills, weather emergencies, or building system issues; report concerns to supervisors or campus police when necessary.
Grounds & Exterior Care: Maintain cleanliness outside building entrances (sweeping, debris removal, and clearing snow/ice within 10 feet of entryways).
Routine Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance on custodial and event tools (e.g., changing vacuum bags, replacing microphone/clock batteries, tightening hardware).
Compliance: Safely handle chemicals, supplies, and equipment in accordance with manufacturer, University, and OSHA standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
Experience: Prior professional custodial work experience.
Communication & Technical Skills: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and apply instructions in English; ability to interpret room diagrams and written event orders.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to organize, prioritize tasks, adapt to operational changes, work independently under general supervision, and make sound decisions.
Preferred:
High School Diploma or GED.
Prior work experience in a public school system, or conference facility.
Physical Capability: Ability to move and maneuver equipment weighing up to 60 lbs unassisted (or up to 100 lbs with assistance).
Mobility: Capability to reach and lift equipment above the shoulders and sustain repetitive lifting/moving motions.
Heights & Outdoors: Ability to work from ladders, lifts, or hydraulic platforms up to 30 feet high, and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Flexibility: Ability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
Schedule is as follows: Monday - 2:30pm to 11:00pm, Tuesday - 2:30pm to 11:00pm, Wednesday - 2:30pm to
11:00pm, Thursday - 2:30pm to 11:00pm, Friday - 2:30pm to 11:00pm, Other - Some
weekends as needed.
