Yesterday was National HVAC Tech Day, and we want to thank all of the talented HVAC tradesmen on team Skillforce! While HVAC techs are typically associated with keeping us cool in the summertime and warm in the winter, this trade is also vital to keeping infrastructure operational. When working in construction zones, even the slightest impact to the head can lead to a major brain injury, creating life-changing consequences that can affect tradesmen and their families for a lifetime. PPE and Hard Hats are essential to safe work zones, and if you experience or witness a head injury while on the job, be sure to report the injury to a supervisor immediately and recover for as long as needed before returning to work.

This month, OSHA and Construction Safety Week signed a joint partnership to promote total worker health, both on and off the jobsite. With over 1,000 tradesmen gathering at the National Mall for the signing, this new collaboration aims to prevent serious jobsite injuries and fatalities, as well as aid with other industry concerns such as mental health. Speaking on the partnership, Adam Jelen, CEO of Gilbane Building Co. and chair of the Construction Safety Week executive committee, stated: “We have one shared goal, and that’s to send everybody home healthy, safe and most importantly, better than when you came.”
