Did you know the first computer mouse was made out of wood?

The first computer mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart in 1963–64 at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) International. The mouse was made of wood, had one button, and was designed to work with a graphical user interface. Bill English, SRI's chief engineer at the time, built the first prototype in 1964. The mouse used two wheels, one for the x-axis and one for the y-axis, to track movement across a surface and translate it into cursor movement on the screen.

Today, on Juneteenth, we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and reflect on the journey towards equality and inclusion in all aspects of society, including America's pastime: baseball.

From the historic moment Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947 to the incredible Black athletes dominating the field today, baseball has come a long way. These trailblazers showcased their immense talent and paved the way for future generations.

Last week, the Hillsboro Hops invited Orlando Williams and the rest of the Motus team to a game celebrating Juneteenth – honoring the rich history and culture of the Black community. Along with throwing out the first pitch (!), Orlando was able to share the importance of supporting diversity and inclusion efforts and contribute to the economic empowerment of the Black community.

Let's continue to celebrate progress, unity, and shared humanity. ⚾️🎉
