Interesting trend: colleges are increasingly trying to fire coaches “for cause” to avoid paying massive buyouts. We were quoted in a recent article discussing why schools can’t simply write “losing too many games” into a contract and call it cause.
The bigger question is where you think the line should be: should poor performance alone be enough to eliminate a buyout, or should contracts require something more specific?
