In 1979, she made history as the first Black chief of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and the first Black woman to achieve the rank of brigadier general. From serving as Army Nurse of the Year—twice—to leading at Walter Reed and educating future nurses, her legacy is one of strength, leadership, and unwavering dedication. 💙✨
