Monsanto called us yesterday to inform us that they are eliminating all seed corn fields in our area. Therefore, no need for our crew.
Since we were considering retiring from it anyway, we’ve decided to call it quits.
Our daughter, Heather Scar, (Scar Detasseling on Facebook ) will still be hiring for her crew. She goes to the Ogden general area for a different seed company.
If you want to detassel this year, contact Heather.

We are all done working!! The only thing left is to mail the checks and have the party Monday!!! Please see my previous posting about the plan for Monday.

I want you to know that this was one of the weirdest years for when and how long we detasseled, but we appreciated the workers that stuck with us! Please watch for our posts for next year!! Love you all always!!

We are coming to the close of the season very fast!! As of right now, we are going back to check one field tomorrow, Thursday, August 8, at regular time (but check back here before bed, just in case a last minute change). That may be all the working days left. We might have to work on Friday-not sure.

In any case, the reward day party for the people that worked 80% of the time or better is set for Monday, August 12. The bus schedule is on a 5 hour delay, so if you get on at Stuart at 4:55, the time would be 9:55. If you get on at The Machine Shed at 5:50, the time would be 10:50. We will go to Jordan Creek where you may go to a movie (your expense), shop, or just hang out. At 2:45 we will leave the mall to go to the Olive Garden. We will make Detasseling award announcements and eat supper (we pay for it), and then the bus will take you back to your pickup point.
