Safety in manufacturing is one of the most important aspects of the job!

At Press Glass, glass transportation racks are constantly on the move. So, it is important to know three crucial safety checks to do after pre-inspecting the rack to ensure it is in proper working order!

👉 Equipment Check - ensure the glass is securely locked in place with the locking rack safety arm

👉 Pathway Check - Confirm the intended pathway is free of obstacles, debris, water, or oil. Ensure all team members are outside of the intended route.

👉Glass Check - Before moving the glass, always check for blemishes or faults. Blemished or faulty glass can cause sudden failure while moving, which can result in injury for personnel, so it is essential to know the types of glass faults. If you find an issue, highlight the blemish with a white pencil to warn others, and let your supervisor know so that the hazard can be dealt with safely.

Why is heat soak testing important?

Because it's an extra quality test that helps customers avoid untimely messes and replacement cost due to spontaneous breakage from nickel sulfide inclusions in the glass!

Every building has a story behind it, and The Orchard in Long Island City is no exception.

This project brought together large-scale glazing, bird-friendly design, and careful attention to visual consistency across the façade. The windows on this project were supplied and installed by Pioneer Window Mfg. Corp., with all windows and components produced at their facility in Johnstown, New York.

Behind every glass unit are people who make it happen, it’s a team effort at every step from fabrication to installation. We’re proud to have been part of the project team that helped bring this design to life.

What you’re seeing is a four-side offset glass—and while it looks clean and simple, getting everything to align like this takes serious precision and teamwork.

Every edge, every dimension, every step in the process has to be just right. From fabrication to final assembly, multiple teams are involved to make sure it all comes together exactly as planned.

It’s projects like this that show what happens behind the scenes—and the level of detail our team brings every day.
