This National Hospital Week, Interim Physicians is proud to recognize the more than 6 million healthcare professionals who keep healthcare facilities running and patient care moving.

First established in 1921 under President Warren G. Harding, National Hospital Week is a time to remember the vital role these facilities play in communities everywhere. It’s also a chance to thank the physicians, administrators, and support staff who serve patients every day.

Their work is essential, but often difficult. Since 2010, 182 rural hospitals have closed, leaving many communities with fewer healthcare options. Fortunately, locum tenens clinicians can serve as a lifeline, helping hospitals protect access when coverage gaps put patients at risk.

For over four decades, Interim Physicians has worked alongside locum clinicians to help hospitals maintain continuity of care. This week, we’re proud to celebrate every healthcare team member whose work keeps hospitals running and communities healthy.

Interim Physicians had supported a Southern California psychiatric facility for more than a decade. Rather than rely on routine remote communication, Jenn and Alan visited in person to better understand the client’s current needs and actively address them.

While onsite, they met with facility leadership and physicians to identify pain points, strengthen personal connections, and maintain a proactive staffing relationship. “Face-to-face interaction makes a big difference,” Jenn said. “People open up more when you’re there in person.”

The trip helped uncover operational needs, reinforce trust, and support proactive staffing decisions before small issues became larger problems.
