P3 Recruiting is in search of a Quality Control Technician for one of our construction supply clients. The individual in this role will be responsible for the sampling, inspecting, and testing of all produced materials (aggregate, sand, rip rap, etc.) and comparing and interpreting results against specifications. The Technician will develop an understanding of the plant and work in conjunction with production personnel to ensure the production of high-quality products.
Essential Functions and Duties of Position:
- Gather samples and perform tests on materials including gradation, material properties, weights, moistures, and other essential tests following ASTM, AASHTO and IDOT/MDOT standards.
- Review tests and sample processes to ensure results have the necessary data and that all required information and results are properly documented and reported.
- Develop an understanding of the aggregate plant and production process and plant and its relation to quality.
- Reports all findings to and works with production management to resolve production issues related to product quality.
- Maintains clean work areas which includes lab, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc.
- Demonstrates a dedication to safety, works within MSHA guidelines and takes action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Maintains a constant interest in learning staying current on state regulations and guidelines and industry test procedures and information.
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the position may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or higher.
- Experience with Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook, Word and QMP or Stonemont.
- 3-10 years lab experience in aggregate or construction materials testing.
- Basic understanding of statistical concepts and the theory and practice of random samplings.
- Clear communication methods; both written and oral. Must effectively communicate both up and down the reporting structure and with coworkers and customers.
