Supported Employment is commonly looked at through the lens of a readiness model when in fact, it should be looked at as a discovery and development process. In order to gain competitive employment, it is important for Employment Specialists to avoid mistaking activity with achievement and progress. At ABA Works, we believe this is best achieved by implementing a quality approach.

The ABA Works Discovery and Development Toolkit was designed for the purpose of guiding the employment process in a way that will aid our Employment Specialists in identifying potential employment opportunities that are most compatible with a job seekers skills and interests. Each section of The Discovery and Development Toolkit helps to create opportunities for Job Seekers to engage in tasks and activities that will demonstrate the strength of their workplace skills, vocational interests, and environmental preferences.

If you know someone who could benefit from our individualized approach to successful employment contact us today and schedule a time to discuss our Supported Employment Services.

The unemployment rate for people with disabilities continues to fall nationally, dropping to 8% in 2018—the lowest it’s been since the government started tracking the metric in 2007. However, the jobless rate for people with disabilities is still more than double the country’s 3.8% unemployment rate, and they still run into challenges when searching for work.

Imagine a local business community with the same attitude as the Kentucky Business Leaders below.
