With ma*****na rescheduling making headlines, a lot of CDL drivers are asking whether the rules have changed. Short answer: no — DOT has been clear that testing requirements haven't budged, even with recent federal action.

Here's what's still true in 2026:

✅ Ci******es — generally allowed, unless you're hauling HAZMAT (25-ft rule) or your company says otherwise
🚫 Ma*****na — zero tolerance, period. State laws and medical cards don't override DOT regulations
❓ Va**ng — often fine, but it depends on your employer and the facilities on your route
⚠️ A failed drug test isn't just a paperwork issue anymore — since late 2024, a positive result can trigger an automatic CDL downgrade through the FMCSA Clearinghouse
