There’s nothing better than hearing this from one of our nannies.

At The Nanny Booth, we care just as much about helping our nannies find the right family as we do about helping our families find the right caregiver.

A placement should feel right on both sides, and we’re so grateful to be part of making those connections.

Finding someone to care for your children is personal. We believe the way we help you find them should be, too.

Being a small, family-owned agency means we get to truly know the families we work with, know our nannies beyond their resumes, and stay personally involved from the very first conversation through placement.

Behind the emails, calls, interviews, reference checks, profiles, and introductions—it’s us.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Your references can make a bigger difference than you think.

Families want to hear from the people who have actually seen you care for their children. Before starting your job search, make sure your references are ready to speak about your experience, reliability, communication, and the relationship you built with their family.

A few reminders:

✓ Always ask permission before listing someone as a reference
✓ Give them a heads-up that an agency or family may be calling
✓ Choose references who can speak specifically about your childcare experience
✓ Make sure their contact information is up to date

A strong reference can help turn a great interview into a job offer.

A great interview is only the beginning.

A paid trial gives both the family and nanny a chance to see what working together actually feels like. Keep the day realistic, give the nanny space to take the lead, and pay attention to the overall connection — not whether every moment is perfect.

Sometimes, a few hours can tell you a lot.

The 3–6 PM problem is something we see every back-to-school season.

Families need help with school pickup, activities, homework, and that busy window before they get home from work. But a 3–6 PM, Monday–Friday schedule is only 15 hours per week—and for an experienced nanny looking for consistent income, that can be a difficult position to commit to long-term.

So what can families do?

Consider expanding the role. Adding hours for children’s laundry, meal prep, errands, organization, or other family-assistant responsibilities can turn a 15-hour position into a more attractive 20–25 hour opportunity.

Sometimes finding the right candidates isn’t about offering a higher hourly rate—it’s about creating a position that works for both sides.

Looking for after-school childcare this fall? We’d love to help.

Are you offering the kind of position someone will want to stay in for years?

Families often tell us they want a nanny who will stay for years—but experienced, career nannies are looking for longevity too.

A competitive rate matters, but so do guaranteed hours, clear expectations, paid time off, good communication, and feeling respected as a professional.

If you’re hoping to find someone who will truly invest in your family long-term, make sure you’re offering a position they’ll want to invest in too.

Looking for a long-term nanny? We’re currently accepting new family searches in NJ, NY, CT & PA.

One of the little things we pay attention to during nanny interviews? Where the conversation naturally goes.

A great sign is when a nanny wants to know about the children — their personalities, interests, routines, what makes them happy, what they’re struggling with, and what kind of caregiver they connect with.

Of course, schedule, pay, benefits, and responsibilities matter. They should. But when someone is genuinely curious about the children they may be caring for every day, that tells us something too.

The best nanny-family relationships are about more than filling a position. 🤎
