Legal Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support a wide range of legal practices, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, and more. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing legal documentation, conducting research, and providing administrative support to attorneys and clients alike. This position is integral to maintaining efficient case management and ensuring the smooth operation of our law office.
Duties
Assist with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case preparation.
Prepare, review, and proofread legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence with precision.
Manage legal case files and document management systems including iManage and other document review platforms.
Support attorneys in drafting legal documents across various practice areas including employment law, family law, patent law, workers' compensation law, and more.
Conduct client interviews and gather necessary information for case development while maintaining confidentiality.
Organize and maintain files related to litigation, family law cases, landlord-tenant disputes, personal injury claims, and securities law matters.
Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scheduling appointments, and managing phone etiquette.
Assist with project management tasks to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
Support the team with transcription services and proofreading to ensure accuracy in all legal documentation.
Coordinate with clients and external agencies to facilitate communication and document submission.
Experience
Paralegal experience or similar legal administrative experience is required.
Proven knowledge of diverse practice areas including litigation, transactual law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, and patent law.
Familiarity with legal case management software such as PCLaw or similar platforms.
Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw and LexisNexis for case law and legal precedents.
Experience working with document management systems like iManage or comparable platforms.
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Excellent writing skills for drafting memos, reports, and correspondence.
Proficiency in proofreading and transcription to ensure clarity and accuracy of legal documents.
Ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized records efficiently.
Knowledge of UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), land use regulations, and other specialized legal fields is advantageous but not mandatory. Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
