I started ETC. on a wing and a prayer. The truth is, after several years of working in hospitality and management, I couldn't find a job and with two teenage boys to feed that was a huge problem. I often hear the term "leap of faith". I actually think that in most situations it's more of a push than a leap, and then if you are lucky you find out that you have wings. I am truly lucky, rather blesse

d, I have found my wings. For the first year it truly was ETC. by Emily. I was a soloprenuer wearing all the hats, working crazy hours and just trying to get by. My hard work brought more business, along with opportunity, and so I grew; becoming ETC. by Emily and Haley and then ETC. by Emily, Haley and Lexi and then...you get my point. What I found is that the number one thing that businesses need to grow is people. Good people. You can be the best at something but one person alone can only do so much. Without good help businesses are at a stand-still at best. What the ETC. team does is take people's lives and businesses to the next level by providing them Bright, Shiny (Brilliant), Happy People! My passion, my gift is being able to connect passionate business owners with Bright, Shiny, Happy People and in doing so everyone wins. My clients are both my ETC. clients and my ETC. team. We all have dreams and my wish is to make everyone's come true!

We are so excited to be back at it this season with Arizona Finest Catering.

This one is for the books. ETC. by Emily just staffed an event at Fire House Event Center, one of the most stunning venues we have worked in. A real historic fire station turned event space. Exposed brick, vintage gear on the walls, character in every corner.

Twelve years in and it still feels this good to walk into a space like this and know exactly what to do with it.

We are officially hiring for season.

ETC. by Emily is looking for people who show up, work hard, and do not need a participation trophy for it.

Quick and honest truth. We are a gig based company. We cannot guarantee hours, shifts, or anything else, really. What we can guarantee is a good time, good people, and events that never feel boring.

So come with gratitude instead of entitlement. Bring a great attitude. That is really the whole application.

Can we talk about time for a second.

On the ETC. team, five minutes early is on time. On time is late. Late is not on the table.

Here is why we hold that line so hard. Every single gig, the front door is somewhere different. One week it is a ballroom entrance. The next it is a loading dock behind a hotel kitchen. The week after that it is a gate code at a private home you have never worked before.

There is no muscle memory here. No walking in on autopilot. Every gig asks you to find the door, find the room, find the team, and be ready, all before the client even knows you have arrived.

That takes minutes we do not get back if you are the one scrambling.

So when we say five minutes early, we mean it as the floor, not a suggestion. It protects the client. It protects the teammate standing next to you. And it protects a reputation we have spent eleven years building, one gig at a time.

Bright, shiny, happy people show up ready. Every single time.

Today I got to spend time with Claire and Chad at Studio F. If you have ever been wowed by an incredible set or staging moment at the Fairmont Princess, there is a good chance their team had a hand in it.

Their talent is next level, and we are so excited to be building a relationship with them. This industry runs on partnerships like this one. When you surround yourself with people who care about the details as much as you do, the magic just happens.

The event industry is having a moment. Bookings are slower than normal, and the economy is not exactly making it easy on small businesses like ours.

So here is what we are doing about it. We are taking it old school.

Before networking meant a caption and a hashtag, it meant a room. You actually met the person. You heard about their wins and their losses. You knew who they were before you ever referred them to a client.

We are bringing that back. ETC. by Emily is hosting an in person networking evening for ten to fifteen businesses who have the same heart we do.

You are genuinely kind. Collaboration is your default, not your marketing angle. And you are excellent at what you do. All three. No exceptions.

Eight years at Coffee Plantation. That is where ETC. by Emily grew up.

We loved every second of No Filter… but honestly? Coffee is not really our thing. 😄 And when you can send your people somewhere with amazing coffee and sweet treats, that is a win for everyone.

Our dream is a community center of our own one day.

Until then, Coffee Plantation is exactly where we are meant to be.

People say you can’t make work your family.

I call bu****it on that.

This team… these people in black… they show up the way they do because they are loved. Genuinely, intentionally, unapologetically loved. Not managed. Not deployed. Loved.

And because they feel that? They love each other. They move together. They communicate without being told to. They pick each other up mid-event without missing a beat. They celebrate each other’s wins and carry each other through the hard ones.

That is not a coincidence. That is a culture that was built on purpose.

Here is the part most people miss though. The trick is not just loving them while they work for you. The trick is loving and caring about them long after they stop.

When your people know that your care does not expire with their last shift… that changes everything. They don’t just work hard. They work with their whole heart.

The reason your wedding day feels effortless is because the people working it actually care. About the event, about the couple, and about each other.

You cannot manufacture that with an app.
You cannot schedule that into a shift.
