SAA Class of 2018 | Communication Arts and Filmmaking Pathway
Current Position: Manager of Soccer Forward Video, United States Soccer Federation

Rachel Wohn produces video content for the United States Soccer Federation, creating stories around Soccer Forward Foundation initiatives, collaborating with corporate partners, and capturing national team matches. Her role combines her passions for film, storytelling, and sports.

Rachel credits Savannah Arts Academy’s Communication Arts and Filmmaking pathway with helping shape her career. Reflecting on her experience in Mr. Beringson’s film classes, she recalls, “We would rotate between roles in writing, directing, cinematography, editing, sound, lighting, and yes, sometimes acting.” She believes that hands-on experience across every aspect of filmmaking helped her develop valuable technical skills and deepen her love for the art form.

Rachel remains grateful for her time at SAA, sharing, “I consider myself very fortunate to have attended Savannah Arts, and I thank teachers like Mr. Beringson for sharing their experience and passion for the arts with their students.” Today, she carries that foundation into her work producing video stories on a national stage.

🎹🖤🩷 A Morning of Music and Mentorship at SAA!

Today, our Savannah Arts Academy piano students wrapped up their Mini-Recitals and enjoyed a special Piano Master Class with guest clinician Dr. Cameron Fuhrman! 🎶

We were also excited to welcome piano students from Garrison School for the Arts, who had the opportunity to tour SAA, connect with our student musicians, and participate in this collaborative musical experience.

The Master Class featured performances by SAA students Lokyiu Lam, Sahana Reddy, Gabriel Scarlett, and Lily Shealey-Buice.

What a wonderful opportunity for our young musicians to showcase their talents, receive valuable feedback, and learn from one another!

A special thank you to Dr. Fuhrman for sharing your time and expertise with our students! 🎼✨

PSAT/SAT TESTING TOMORROW! 📝

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, students in grades 10 and 11, along with registered students in grades 9 and 12, will participate in PSAT/SAT testing!

WHAT TO BRING:
✅ Your fully charged school-issued Chromebook
✅ Chromebook charger
✅ An optional snack and drink for the break

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER: There will be NO make-up testing for students who are absent.

💤 Get plenty of rest tonight!
🍎 Eat a healthy breakfast tomorrow morning!
⏰ Arrive on time and ready to do your best!

9th graders not testing, will report to their Advisement classroom. Seniors that are not testing will report to the cafeteria.

It’s another big night for SAA Flag Football. Join us Tuesday, Oct. 20th at Memorial Stadium as the Lady Panthers take on St. Vincent’s at 5:30 PM and Richmond Hill at 6:30 PM.

Your support means everything to these athletes. Come fill the stands and make some noise!

The SAA team, Blood Transfusion Films, earned two major awards at last night’s ceremony: Best New Team and Best Use of Graphics! And for a first-time team of high school filmmakers, that’s a HUGE accomplishment!

They also earned nominations for Best in Show, Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Use of Line of Dialogue, and Best Use of Prop.

Congratulations to Charley Newman, Ellie Ayala, Indie Stewart, Jonas Poeling, Owen Bull, Landon Smith, Caleb Celeste, Ariel Witry, Liam Steffen and Haram Gu for representing SAA and proving that our Panthers have what it takes to compete with the best. 🏆

SAA Dance has a new course this year: Performance Ensemble!

The ensemble is made up of 11 dedicated upperclassmen who have completed their composition coursework and were invited to be part of this student-led class focused on collaboration, leadership, creativity, and community engagement.

Their goal is simple: to use their training and artistry to share their love of dance with others.

Yesterday, they took their first step toward that goal by hosting their very first workshop with 25 dancers from the Garrison Dance Department!

We are so proud to see these students stepping into leadership roles, sharing what they’ve learned, and discovering how dance can create connections beyond the classroom.

We can’t wait to see where Performance Ensemble takes them this year! Savannah Arts Dance
