HOW DO HUMOR, METAPHORS AND STORIES MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

We all have a personality and style, that is easily recognized by others.

As we become known to each other….we also become predictable.

That can give us comfort in feeling reassured about responses and behaviors.

And, then, a life surprise or change!
· you are promoted or transferred to a new group/location
· you start a new career or business and must network/market
· you now train and mentor clients, colleagues or employees
· you are asked to make presentations for associations and groups
· you are creating presentations for Youtube or your website

Now, you need to be front and center…..building trust, rapport and agreement…..where the comfort of predictability isn’t yet established.

So, how could a story engage people at first meetings? When does humor ease tension, and build rapport through laughter? And, how can a metaphor lead to nods and smiles with an audience of 1 or 100?

These can be the best tools in your toolbox of skills and wisdom….along with the ability to “improv”!
