We took Zipdev to Colombia! 🇨🇴✨

A few weeks ago, our team came together in Cartagena for our annual retreat, marking a first for Zipdev: our very first retreat outside of Mexico. And what better place to make it happen than the Caribbean?

We spent a few days making memories, from exploring Cartagena and sailing on a catamaran to sharing incredible food, big conversations, and a little real magic with Mago Zero. 🪄

From the laughs and adventures to the spontaneous moments that made the trip unforgettable, we brought people together, exchanged ideas, and made memories we’ll be talking about for a long time.

You have been in back to back meetings for four hours and you finally hear the magic words: "We can keep the cameras off for this one."

It is the ultimate relief. The "Rectangle of Doom" is finally gone. You can finally stretch, rub your eyes, and stop worrying about your "resting meeting face." You might even walk around the room or make a sandwich while you listen to the roadmap update.

In a world that is always "on," these small moments of visual privacy are how we keep our sanity. They allow us to focus on the actual conversation instead of focusing on how our hair looks on the screen. It is the best 30 minutes of your day.

You finally found the perfect "aesthetic" spot in your house to work, but then the September equinox hits and the sun decides to attack your monitor from a completely new angle.

One day your desk is perfectly lit for video calls. The next day, you are sitting in a blinding beam of light that makes your screen look like a mirror. You spend the entire morning moving your laptop two inches to the left every ten minutes, trying to outrun the sun like a digital nomad in your own living room.

Nature always finds a way to remind us who is in charge of our home office setup. By noon, you have a makeshift curtain made of a towel and a stack of books, but the project is still on track.

Our co-founder and CEO Daniel Altenburg traded the interviewer's chair for the hot seat and made his first live TV appearance on KUSI's Good Business.

Daniel joined the show to talk about Zipdev, entrepreneurship, and the impact has had on his growth both professionally and personally.

After 20+ years in recruiting, Daniel is usually the one asking the questions. This time, with the cameras rolling and that little red light staring back at him, he got to experience what it's like on the other side.

His biggest takeaway? Stop worrying about saying the perfect thing and just have a conversation.

That's something we believe strongly at Zipdev. Whether you're interviewing a candidate, talking with a client, leading a team, or apparently going on live TV, genuine conversations and meaningful connections matter.

Daniel also shared something a lot of business owners don't talk about enough. Entrepreneurship can be lonely. Having a community of people who understand the wins, struggles, family pressures, and everything else that comes with building a company can make a huge difference.

We're proud to see Daniel continuing to push himself outside his comfort zone, represent Zipdev, and share some of the lessons he's learned along the way.

September is here, and it is time to delete all those spicy drafts you wrote during a stressful Tuesday in August.

We all have them. Those messages that started with "As per my last email" but ended with a little too much honesty. September is for new beginnings and for bringing back our "professional patience." You clear out the drafts folder, take a deep breath, and go back to the world of "Hope this finds you well" and "Let's touch base."

It is a digital detox. You let go of the old frustrations and make room for the new projects. Your reputation as the "calmest person on the team" remains safe for another season.

POV: You just finished a long day. You closed the laptop, stretched your back, and walked into the kitchen.

Then, you hear it. The phantom vibration in your pocket. Even though you are officially "off," your brain is still wired to the grid. You find yourself checking a notification while standing in front of the fridge, replying to a message with one hand while holding a sandwich with the other.

The "Log Off" is the biggest lie we tell ourselves. It takes at least an hour for the digital noise to actually fade away. We love the freedom, but learning how to actually leave the "office" when the office is your living room is a skill we are still trying to master.

Our co-founder and CEO Daniel Altenburg put his recruiting hat back on this past weekend to interview one of the greatest athletes of all time, 11-time world champion kellyslater.

And they went deep.

Competition, family, death, identity, struggles, wins, failures, business, fatherhood, longevity, and what it takes to keep evolving when you’re already considered the greatest.

After 20+ years of recruiting and interviewing people for a living, it was pretty cool watching Daniel do his thing. Asking the uncomfortable questions, pulling on the right threads, staying present, and turning an interview into a real conversation.

We’re proud to have this dude leading Zipdev, and even cooler knowing Kelly was one of his childhood heroes.

From having Kelly Slater posters on his wall to interviewing him on stage 30+ years later.

Talk about a full-circle moment.
