Her keel was laid down on 25 January 1965 by Ingalls Shipbuilding. She was launched on 6 August 1966 and commissioned on 1 September 1967 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. In November 1967, the ship arrived at her first ho

meport of San Diego, California after transiting the Panama Canal.

Tommy Lasorda, a Hall of Fame Manager and Special Advisor to Chairman Frank McCourt, announced today that he has offered free tickets at Dodger Stadium to all military members during the month of May. Lasorda, who is an Army veteran, wishes to salute members of the armed forces and thank them for their service to the United States of America.

All members of the joint services with a valid military ID, including active, reserve and retired veterans as well as their dependents, may take advantage of the free ticket offer by showing their military ID at any Dodger Stadium ticket booth day of game. Each military ID will be good for two complimentary tickets, based on availability, and more details are listed at www.dodgers.com/military.
