Important Update! If you or someone you know was a stagehand, technician, engineer, or related role (event planner, runner, crafty, etc), and paid as an independent contractor (income reported on 1099's), you likely qualify for the Paycheck Protection Program offered to small businesses with employees.
YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE EMPLOYEES. IT'S NOT AVAILABLE TO SELF-EMPLOYED CONTRACTORS - INCLUDING LYFT, UBER AND DOORDASH DRIVERS.
There are some other basic qualifications, but I've helped a number of stagehands get approved for forgivable loans. This is free money because you don't have to pay the loan back. You can apply for the PPP through your normal bank, but I found that this company has the simplest, fasted interface and process. Takes about 20 min to apply and you get approved in 24 hours. There are some things you need to need to have, but for the most part, it's just your 2019 or 2020 Form 1040 (one or the other, doesn't have to be both), the schedule C for that year. a bank account and you have to have been paid as a 1099 contractor.
There are only 2 weeks left before the deadline. I'm going to write up a quick step-by-step process for all our contractor friends out there, but if you have questions, feel free to post here or DM us. And share this link with any of your event friends.

GOOD LUCK FRIENDS! GO GIT YO MONEY!!

Meet Robert Grow! A veteran stagehand and member of IATSE Local 107, he's also one of our owners and the foundation upon which we're built. As we've experienced the expected growing pains of any young company, Robert (more commonly known as 'Bobby') decided he needed to be back out in the field instead of pushed up behind a desk. Don't be surprised if he comes up behind you with a hard hat or appears from nowhere to foot your ladder. Besides making sure our company is financially sound, Bobby takes great pride in writing and *enforcing* our safety protocols.

Thank you Bobby!

Just kicked off our first load-in supporting Impact Lighting - Audio - Video. The PM was amazing and our small team fit right in with their regular crew.

Celebrating with a beer... and a healthy portion of unread email.

The team here at LRM, including crew operations, admin, sales and all stagehands - many having been here from the beginning - would like to offer our love and heartfelt condolences to our President and "Den-Mother" Linda Frisby and our CFO and faithful example Robert Grow - as well as their family and extended family - as they grieve the loss of their mother Barbara. It was certainly a somber week for us all - as we stood beside them - finally putting her to rest this afternoon.

Many of us never had the opportunity to meet or know her, but from the example of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, it's so clear to see her heart of love, faith and generosity. Thank you Barbara for blessing the world with your soul and instilling in the people around you that piece of you that make them special to us. You certainly live on in them.

Thank you. May your soul be at peace.

"I don't know why this guy gets paid. All he does is hang around."

Congratulations to Kyle for his first, solo fly date as an LED Wall Specialist in Detroit, MI. He was brought in to work along side the LED manufacturer's team to install and bring online a massive wall made up of over 644 tiles and towered over the stage reaching over two stories.

This is pretty cool for creating immersive environments. It won't be a cheap solution, but compared to the cost of going on-location, I guess it's cheaper, safer, faster and a controlled environment. Tech to keep your eye on, for sure.

Despite the fact that AR remains fairly untested by many local companies, there is no doubt that it is now going mainstream globally.

I don't know a single freelance stagehand that hasn't had trouble collecting at least one invoice. Thank you New York!!!

New York City is about to approve first-of-its-kind legislation protecting freelancers and “gig economy” workers against wage theft. Nearly three-quarters of independent contractors have struggled to collect payment during their career, according to the Freelancers Union. “There are inherent risks i...
