Advantage Services (Formerly Valley Services) was incorporated in 1992. It was established with the sole purpose of serving people with barriers to employment such as physical, mental health and/or other various social or cultural disadvantages; individuals who had stabilized and were ready to re-enter the workforce. Advantage Services was set up as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and currently employs 206
individuals, of which 172 are disabled (83.5%). Governor’s Homeless Coordination Committee and collaborates with other agencies like the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR), Veterans Affairs (VA), Housing Authority of the County of Salt Lake (HACSL) and the Department of Work Force Services (DWS). Advantage Services has served over 150 individuals who we once chronically homeless and now stabilized in permanent supportive housing obtain meaningful supported employment. Advantage Services has developed a model that assists its clients not only to receive training in a supportive worksite but has been very successful in having these same clients placed into permanent employment after their training is complete. Advantage Services is currently a vendor for the USOR and has provided Mentoring, Peer Support, Job Coaching, Job Development, Life Skills Training, Transitional Provisional Employment (TPE) and Trial Work Employment (TWE) programs for their clients since 1999. Advantage Services is also a vendor for DWS providing educational and life skills training since 2004. Training such as The Community Computer Education Program (CCEP) and a general labor training program for the refugee population. Advantage Services is a member of the Utah Defender Offender Workforce Development (UDOWD) Team and sits on the Utah State Independent Living Council (USILC).
