Hope, Horses & Kids

We enjoyed another successful Horse Powered Reading ®️StoryCoach at Henry Kamman Elementary this past Monday. Watching these kids spark 💫 when they ‘get’ the magic e, or grow in confidence leading the horses to an activity constantly inspires us to keep showing up. With our recent sponsorship from Shoreline Woodworks we have more sessions coming up!

Helping young kids do more for themselves.

Young Minds CA and Hope, Horses & Kids are excited to come together for a special workshop focused on building executive functioning skills, independence and resilience in children.

We’ll explore practical strategies families can use at home to help children build confidence, navigate everyday struggles and develop greater independence.

And the best part? Parents and children will have an opportunity to put these skills into practice with a hands-on activity at the ranch! 💛🐴

We’re looking forward to an afternoon of learning, connection and growth with our Young Minds CA families!

Thanks to the generous donation and sponsor gift from we are able to take our StoryCoach program out on the road again.
This class of third graders absolutely loved their break from the classroom and the visit with the horses and they didn’t even realize they were still learning with the magical Horse Powered Reading curriculum.

At HHK we believe every young person deserves the chance to be seen for who they are, not the mistakes they have made. We have the privilege of welcoming the Silver Star teens to our ranch for some EAL bi-weekly.
Horses have an incredible way of meeting us exactly where we are, they don’t judge our past or label us. It’s hard to put into words the healing energy and sparks of joy we see when the horses and students get together in the arena. We have been working on authentic connection with the horses, and treated them to a ride - this group has been showing up not just physically but also emotionally and mentally with us, they deserved to feel the magic of being in the saddle. Thank you for giving this opportunity and we can’t wait to share more magical equine moments with you 💞🤎🐴

We are incredibly honored to provide the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus teens access to animals and barnyard management.

Nathalia is a frequent visitor to the barn and especially loves spending time with the rabbits.

What a spectacular day with the Golden Circle of Champions kids in conjunction with the California Rodeo Salinas. This day means so much to us, to be able to provide a gathering space where families going through unimaginable challenges can come together in solidarity and support and kids can play, connect and be kids in a safe and joyful space.
We rode, we met the herd, we cleaned sheep pens, we clipped bunny nails, we fed cows, we bathed horses and we ate pizza and popsicles. Hearts 🟰full 💛

This Saturday marks our third year partnering with the California Rodeo Salinas and the Golden Circle of Champions for a family play day.

The Golden Circle directly supports kids and families battling pediatric cancer, and we’re thrilled to offer them a day of pony rides, games, barn animals, fun, and connection - a chance to come together and simply ‘be’.

We’re honored to be part of a day that brings a little more joy, connection, and magic to these incredible families. 💛

We currently have two homeschool groups up and running on Thursdays and Fridays. These sessions are tailored to the groups individual and collective needs. Kids will learn horsemanship, life skills (such as communication, confidence, personal skills, boundaries), barnyard management and even some riding thrown in.

We are a vendor with Ocean Grove and Yosemite, if you would like more information, or to come and watch a session please feel free to reach out to us.

What better way to learn than out in nature with animals?
