✨ Good things come from getting together, sharing ideas, and learning from one another.

Members of Kansas WorkforceONE and our KANSASWORKS Workforce Centers joined workforce professionals from across Kansas in Topeka this week for the Workforce Innovation Conference.

Our team had the opportunity to learn from incredible speakers and presenters, lead a session on employee wellness, and join Vocational Rehabilitation for a panel highlighting the real impact of workforce services in helping individuals overcome barriers and pursue their goals.

Just as valuable were the conversations with partners from across our 96-county service area. We’re bringing those ideas, connections, and inspiration back to our local teams and communities. 💼🌱

What a great connection and learning opportunity for the young adults participating in the knectY program with our KANSASWORKS Garden City team! 💙

Youth in the knectY program recently enjoyed a workshop presented by Amanda Serafin, LMLP-T, with Compass Behavioral Health. 🧭

Ms. Serafin taught the youth a variety of positive strategies for managing stress in the workplace. She helped them learn how to better understand themselves and identify their triggers, what happens in the brain during “fight or flight” moments, ways to cope ahead and cool down after a crisis, and the importance of having a plan and communicating their needs appropriately.

Several youth are currently working and are benefiting from these valuable skills and helpful tips. We greatly appreciate Ms. Serafin taking the time to join us and share her knowledge and expertise with the group. Thank you, Ms. Serafin, for helping our youth build skills that can support their success both at work and in everyday life! ✨💡

Last week, some of our Kansas WorkforceONE team members had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Disability Inclusion Summit: "Connecting for Impact" in Kansas City, Missouri, hosted by the Center for Disability Inclusion.

The summit brought together inspiring speakers, advocates, and leaders in the disability inclusion space who shared their stories, celebrated the successes of people with diverse abilities, and explored innovative approaches to creating more inclusive and accessible workplaces and programs.

From universal design and accessibility best practices to the power of listening to lived experiences, our team came away with new ideas and renewed inspiration to help ensure that the workforce system is welcoming and accessible to everyone.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and bring these insights back to the communities we serve. ⭐

Every September, Adult Education & Family Literacy Week shines a light on the importance of learning at every stage of life - and the educators and community partners who help make those opportunities possible.

Adult Education is about so much more than earning a credential or strengthening a skill. It can help adults build literacy and numeracy skills, develop digital confidence, prepare for further education or training, and take meaningful steps toward their career goals.

That makes Adult Education an important part of Workforce Development. When people have access to the education and foundational skills they need to move forward, they are better positioned to pursue training, enter the workforce, advance in their careers, and contribute to the strength of their communities.
