Job searching can be emotionally exhausting - and it’s okay to acknowledge that. 💙

Applications, interviews, uncertainty, rejection, financial stress… it can take a toll on mental wellness. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage job seekers to prioritize rest, boundaries, and self-care alongside their career goals - not just this month, but every day.

Remember:
✔ Take breaks when needed
✔ Celebrate small wins
✔ Ask for help and support
✔ Your worth is not defined by a job title

Our teams are here to support the whole person - not just the resume.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is always available. You can call or text 988 anytime to connect with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, or visit https://988lifeline.org/ for free, confidential, one-on-one support and resources.

Project SEARCH Celebration May 20, 2026 ⭐🎉

Project SEARCH for the 2025–2026 school year was held at Garden City Community College. Two students, Lupita and Natalie successfully completed the program and are now preparing to apply their newly developed skills in employment settings. Throughout the program, they exceeded expectations and demonstrated significant growth in social interaction, communication, learning new skills, and developing a strong work ethic.

During the program, the students participated in three rotations across several departments at the college, including Custodial, Maintenance, Cafeteria, Bookstore, and Transportation services. Their success was made possible through the guidance, support, and mentorship provided by their instructor, Sarah Drubinskiy, along with department supervisors.

Additional support was provided by Kansas WorkforceONE, Pre-ETS, and Vocational Rehabilitation. The students also benefited greatly from the ongoing encouragement and collaboration of Gina Galpin, Director of the USD 457 Garden City Public Schools Special Education Department and Morgan Luna, Secondary Coordinator of the USD 457 Special Education Department.

Please join us in congratulating Lupita and Natalie on their accomplishments! 👏✨

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Kansas WorkforceONE was proud to host two impactful training sessions focused on practical mental health skills every professional should have.

With over 100 staff and partners from across the state joining us across both sessions, these conversations highlighted the importance of reducing stigma, strengthening understanding, and learning how to better support ourselves, our coworkers, customers, and communities.

A special thank you to Erin Callinan, Founder of Beneath The Brave and nationally certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor, for leading these meaningful discussions and equipping attendees with practical tools they can carry into both the workplace and everyday life.

Together, we continue building stronger, healthier workplaces and communities through awareness, compassion, and connection. 💚
