Russell #177 Masonic lodge had their annual 3 Gun shoot yesterday at Lasada Lodge. We had a nice turnout and a beautiful day for shooting, light mist and rain off and on (much welcomed) combined with temps in the 60s and completely overcast. The shotgun competion was a standard 50 round sporting clays course, pistol was 30 rounds thru a series if El Presidentia, Bill and Mozambique drills and the rifle portion was 10 rounds at varying distance out to 225 yards ( a basic deer hunting course). Also we had a fun shoot of pistols at 100 yards w/6 rounds (yours truly put 3 of 6 on target with my trusty 1911 45acp) for bragging rights finished up with homemade and hand breadedchicken frys with all the trimmings for dinner prepared by Morgan and Ethan Jones. The day was rounded out by another just for the hell of it fun shoot afterwords with what we call tactical trap.....standard trap shooting but with a twist, tactical/home defense shotguns AKA 18.5 or 20 inch barrells and open or improved cylinder bores. I would like to thank Bro. Ethan Jones and his lovely wife Morgan for hosting and feeding us and Bro. Mark Popp for running everybody and everything around all day as needed in his Polaris Ranger as well as all the brothers and their family's from various lodges who came out. Results as follows;

A long day but a good day. The Hays and Goodland York Rite Joint Degree Team conferred all 4 Chapter Degrees for the first time in recent memory for 10 Brothers today. I can't thank Gary Mason, Justin Crippen and Andy Mosley enough for traveling to Hays to fill in for Bros. who found themselves unable to and help us confer these degrees today as well Bill Leonard, Gary Strout, John Stanton and Robert Beardsley in their advisory capacity. This has been 2 years in the making to regenerate both Hays and Goodland to the point we are able to do degree conferrals in house once again.

Today is the 271st anniversary of George Washington's initiation or "making" as a Freemason. He was made an Entered Apprentice Mason at the age of twenty in the Lodge at Fredericksburg, Virginia, on November 4, 1752. He paid £2, 3 shillings, which would be approximately $488 today. At the Memorial, we honor him as America's foremost Freemason. Shown here is the Bible upon which Washington took his Masonic obligation, which is still maintained by Fredericksburg Lodge.
