investing hits $200B

The U.S. has seen an almost unprecedented surge in manufacturing investment since passed two bills loaded with industrial subsidies last August, the Financial Times reports. Companies have committed more than $200 billion to new projects over the past eight months; investments in semiconductor plants and clean tech doubled in that period compared with the whole of 2021 and were 20 times the amount in 2019. At least 31 projects worth $1 billion or more have been announced in those sectors since August; four such projects were announced in 2019.

The Inflation Reduction Act includes $369 billion in ; the and Science Act has $39 billion for manufacturing and $24 billion for manufacturing.
