"I have always been treated professionally as a Vocational/CSS/Skills Trainer/LSC Counselor at The Choice Group. I value all the time spent assisting our clients learning job skills, finding the right job and seeing them succeed. I'm also grateful for the various positions I hold at The Choice Group where every day is different. Helping and supporting clients, especially the disabled veterans with their issues of traumatic brain injuries and suffering from PTSD is extremely gratifying. The most rewarding part of the job is when our clients receive their first paycheck and the joy on their faces, when they are recognized for all of their accomplishments and achieving their goals. It's truly blessing being a part of this community and how The Choice Group has allowed me to work with different clients being assigned to me since 2017. Looking forward to many more years!"

Congratulations to these Project SEARCH graduates, Theodore, Jackson, Cameron, Adam, and Evan!!

On their experiences, they wanted to share personal comments to anyone who might be interested in Project SEARCH in the future.

Jackson shared, "I would recommend Project SEARCH because it gives you more work experience and practice with interviewing. I used to be really shy, but now I feel more confident doing interviews."

Cameron told us, "I would recommend Project SEARCH!"

Theodore said, "I would recommend Project SEARCH to high school students! I like replacing soiled linen bags."

Adam added, "You can help out, clean, make friends, and have work experience!"

Congratulations are in order for this unstoppable Vocational Counselor, Madison Anonick. 1 year with The Choice Group, and her manager had a lot of praise to give!

"Since Madison joined TCG last year, she has been an invaluable asset to the Richmond team. She jumped in headfirst and has consistently demonstrated that she can handle some of the most challenging cases and tough placements – always with a smile on her face, taking everything in stride. She was recently promoted to a Vocational Counselor role, all while completing her hours with us for her VCU Master of Social Work program. We are so lucky to have her!"

Danny is the Office Clerk at The Choice Group and has been a treasured member of our team for 14 years! Celebrate with us and share some love in the comments!

"I can’t believe Danny has been with The Choice Group for 14 years through ups and downs in Danny’s life —in all of our lives (COVID). They have been the best employer and I know Danny feels valued and appreciated," Danny's mother, Heidi, shared. "He has grown so much since he first started as a young man of 22. He hops up every morning for work- no alarm clock needed —and he enjoys the work he does. We are thankful that he has had the opportunity to make a contribution to The Choice Group."

Check out this amazing success story from a person served by The Choice Group.

After surviving a stroke, Frances had to relearn activities she had been doing for years, including reading and driving. What she missed the most was her work as a Registered Nurse and helping people. After receiving Social Security Administration Disability Insurance (SSDI) for several years, Frances was ready to get back to work.

She received a letter in the mail from Ticket to Work and found an Employment Network that helped her with her resume and provided benefits counseling. She successfully returned to full-time work and achieved her goals.

Meet Chase!!

Chase has been working at Camp Bow Wow since September 2024, and recently earned Employee of the Month! Make sure to give him a shout out in the comments!

Chase is a Dog Camp Counselor who was recently promoted to Jr. Lead! Chase always goes above and beyond for his work with dogs, including prepping special holiday meals and participating in photo galleries with dogs for customers to see. He also participates on Camp Bow Wow TikTok.

Bryan Beck, Chase's Vocational Counselor from The Choice Group, said, "Some jobs are just the perfect fit. 🐾 Chase’s first job at Camp Bow Wow has turned out to be his dream job, and it’s easy to see why. As a camp counselor for dogs, he brings a calming, comforting presence and genuine passion for every pup in his care. The match between Camp Bow Wow and Chase has been nothing short of perfect.”

Camp Bow Wow Lead Manager, Caroline, said, "He is direct and good with his communication. He always lets his coworkers and managers know that he is on his way to work and if he might be late due to a bridge lift.”

Camp Bow Wow Owner, Antohony, said, "Chase has really evolved because he started out shy and timid and now he communicates all the time and is especially good at talking with the pet parents." "His demeanor is always calm which is helpful for keeping the dogs calm.” “He is great at working with the pets with enrichment sessions one on one with the dogs such as snuggle time.” “He is reliable, flexible and adaptive which is helpful for his job” “I wish I could duplicate Chase because he does such a good job.”
