There's no doubt summer is here, and with scorching temperatures all throughout the area, it's vitally important to take care of yourself. If you go outdoors, try to find shade as much as possible, make sure to wear sunscreen, and most importantly, stay well-hydrated.

With temperatures in triple digits pretty much every day, take a few minutes to learn the signs of heatstroke and heat exhaustion. If you or someone you know is exhibiting signs of either, seek immediate medical treatment.

Whereas heat exhaustion is related to dehydration and the cardiovascular system struggling to pump blood through the body, heatstroke occurs when a person’s body temperature gets so dangerously high that it begins overheating tissues and organs.

With the warm weather, take precautions against the heat. Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a hat to protect your face when outside. Find shade to rest and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. And avoid high-energy activities or work outdoors during the midday heat.
