The Friends of Hoke County Public Library help support the library by raising funds, writing grants, recruiting volunteers, and advocating for the library’s needs. The Friends work with the library’s Board of Trustees and Director to determine where there are needs, then helps to fund, organize & staff critical projects. Become a Friend of the Library by filling out the application & paying your a

nnual dues. You can help in many ways: by donating your time or an item the library needs; by making tax deductible contributions, or by volunteering for various projects such as fundraisers, programs, and advocacy efforts.

FYI: There will be "NO" AARP tax prep at our Library this year. They were not able to secure enough staff for tax preparation so there will not be a site in Hoke County. UNCP will offer services as well as other organizations below:

Submit your poems to the 2026 NC State Poetry Contest! ✍

The annual NC State Poetry Contest is a free literary competition open to all North Carolina residents (including out-of-state and international students who are enrolled in North Carolina universities). It remains one of the largest free-to-enter poetry contests in the South.

This year’s guest judge is award-winning poet Megan Pinto.
The contest features the Dorianne Laux Prize for Poetry, which includes a $500 award.

Submissions will be accepted via mail and email. Entries must be submitted or postmarked by March 2, 2026.
