Our deepest sympathies to the family, friends of Ed Slane and fellow firefighters at Station 54 NPFD. So many in the fire service have interacted with Ed thru his many different fire service roles. We all have favorite memories of him and they all end with a smile and a laugh. Thank you for the profound impact you have had on us.

6/3/2026 100 block N 4th st Minersville-House Fire. Minersville Fire Dept, Pottsville 50 & 60 E-62,R-63 Responded. Call upgraded to WSF. Arriving units found heavy smoke and fire. 3 houses involved. WSF added additional companies. 2 nd Alarm struck, 3rd alarm struck.

Crews from station 60 are just clearing a 3 alarm fire in Minersville. Both the engine and rescue responded.

6/2/2026. I-81 NB MM 127 CRASH ENTRAPMENT. RYAN TWSP FIRE,FRACKVILLE FIRE,YORKVILLE HOSE DISPATCHED. (NOTE MULTIPLE NORTHERN SCH FIRE DEPTS WERE OPERATING AT A WELL INVOLVED STRUCTURE FIRE IN RYAN TWSP WHICH BUMPED R-63 UP ON THE RUN CARD). MAHANOY CITY RESCUE AND ENGINE DID CLEAR FROM THE FIRE AND DID RESPOND TO THIS INCIDENT. 1 CAR VS GUIDE RAILS-ROLLOVER-ENTRAPMENT

Awful news out of Berks County.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.
