Seth, a 2019 graduate of Minersville Area and the Minersville YES Program, now serves as Communications Director for the office of Senator David G. Argall (R-29) in the Pennsylvania State Senate.

It is always wonderful to see YES alumni succeeding, and we congratulate Seth on his achievements and wish him continued success!

What comes next after high school?

We asked 210 YES students about their plans for college, work, training, career interests, and where they hope to build their futures.

The results show strong interest in postsecondary education, immediate workforce entry, healthcare, skilled trades, business, and social services. They also reveal an encouraging trend: YES students reported slightly stronger local and Pennsylvania retention intentions than available youth benchmarks.

These findings help us better understand what students want, where opportunities exist, and how employers, educators, and community partners can support the next generation of our regional workforce.

Proud to announce that we held our first-ever YES Mock Interview Event at North Schuylkill School District!

Students had the opportunity to sharpen their interview skills, gain real-world feedback from employers, and build confidence for future careers. Experiences like this help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace in a meaningful way.

A huge thank you to Wegmans, Walmart, and UFP Industries for volunteering your time and investing in our students’ futures. Your support made this event a tremendous success!

Congratulations to the 229 graduates of the YES (Your Employability Skills) Program who were recognized this morning during the 2026 YES Recognition Breakfast at St. Nick’s in Minersville!

More than 260 students, educators, employers, legislators, and community supporters came together to celebrate a group of students who chose to challenge themselves with a program focused on real-world skills, professionalism, accountability, and workplace readiness.

While many high school electives come and go, YES gives students something they can carry long after graduation: an industry-recognized credential respected by employers throughout the region. From mock interviews and business tours to presentations and professional development, these students spent the year preparing for life after high school whether that path leads to college, the workforce, the military, trade school, or beyond.

A special thank you goes out to the teachers, business partners, mock interviewers, tour hosts, sponsors, legislators, and community supporters who continue to make the YES Program possible year after year.

Congratulations again to this year’s YES graduates. Your hard work showed today, and your future looks bright.

Big thanks to Linda and Heather from Fulton Bank, along with Jason from the PA Department of Corrections, for spending part of their Day of Caring helping our students sharpen their interview skills today.

As part of the Schuylkill United Way’s Day of Caring, we hosted a mock interview event that gave students the chance to practice answering questions, build confidence, and get real feedback from professionals in the community.

We appreciate everyone who continues to support the next generation by showing up, sharing advice, and investing their time where it matters most.

Thank you to Mid Penn Bank for once again hosting their popular piggy bank giveaway at this year’s Schuylkill County Career Fair. Congratulations to Ryan McKinney from DHH Lengel Middle School, who came incredibly close with a guess of $192.85. The actual amount in the bank was $192.25!

Thank you again to Mid Penn Bank for helping make the event even more memorable for the students.
