Soldiers who meet current retention standards but were separated for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine may be authorized to reenter the U.S. Army.
Both active duty and Reserve service members may request reinstatement to their former rank. Service may be in the active or Reserve components and may be eligible for back pay and compensation.
U.S. Army Human Resources Command will provide more information on the process. In the coming weeks, HRC will email and phone all affected Soldiers.

Any former Army Reserve Soldier who voluntarily left the service or allowed their service to lapse due to their decision to not receive the COVID-19 vaccination can seek to return to service with no impact on their service status, rank, or pay.
Reinstatement will not include backpay, bonuses, or other forms of compensation.
The first step in the process to return to duty will be to visit your local Army recruiter. You may locate an Army Reserve recruiter at www.goarmyreserve.com for eligibility pre-screening.
Eligible individuals may then apply for reinstatement through the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) online at https://lnkd.in/et_KSipw or through the normal ABCMR process (see https://lnkd.in/eMih6yc6 for more information).
Please direct questions about applying to the ABCMR to [email protected] with “COVID Reinstatement” in the email's Subject line.
