Its a heritage shared by all who have earned the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. It's a history permanently etched by the actions of every Marine who has ever served. To the ones who came before and those who will follow.

Happy Birthday Marines!

What is Educator’s Workshop?

Educators Workshop is a week-long, all-expense-paid, immersive experience that gives educators a first-hand look at what it means to become a Marine.

Pictured is Mrs. Cherita Dilley from Vallejo Unified School District. Cherita was hesitant to attend the workshop as her view of the Armed Forces wasn’t a positive one, however she kept her mind open to see how the Marines could benefit her students.

After spending some time with the Marines and seeing what opportunities would be available for her students, Ms. Cherita said, “Becoming a Marine is a process, it’s not just signing up and putting on a uniform and becoming a Marine. They really do go through a process of breaking down bad habits and then building the young men and women up to become men and women of character. That’s the first thing that really stands out that’s important.”

Couldn’t have said it better. If you’re an educator and you’re interested in attending a workshop message us for more information or ask your local recruiter.

Did You Know?

The Marine Corps has a mascot. It’s true.

In World War II during the Battle of Belleau Wood the Marines got the nickname “Teufel Hunden” or “Devil Dogs” due to their relentless fighting spirit. It wasn’t long after that a recruiting poster appeared showing a dachshund wearing a spiked helmet and Iron Cross running from an English Bulldog wearing a helmet with the globe and anchor on it. The poster was embraced by the Marine Corps and public, and the bulldog soon became a much loved Mascot of the Marine Corps.

Pictured above is Lance Corporal Johnny R. Manuelito “Manny”. He was named in honour of Sgt. Johnny R. Manuelito, Sr., one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers who trained in the first All Navajo Platoon on Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in 1942. He is the current mascot for MCRD San Diego.
