✳️ From The Bench……To The Field!
A client told me recently:
"I feel like I’m doing everything right… but I’m still sitting on the bench."
He was applying, talking to people, showing up consistently and still not getting offers.
Here’s the reality:
You’re in the game… but you’re not getting noticed by the coach.
Most professionals treat LinkedIn like fans in the stands watching, liking, occasionally clapping with a “Congrats!”
But hiring managers are looking for:
🔹 They’re scouting the players on the field.
🔹 The ones contributing.
🔹 The ones showing how they think.
🔹 The ones adding value in real time.
If you want to get off the bench, you have to play differently.
Here’s the 3-part “game plan” to get on their radar:
1️⃣ THE INSIGHTFUL ADD (Make the play)
Don’t just say “Great post.” Add a perspective or takeaway that shows how you think.
✅ Example: “This aligns with trends I’m seeing in [industry]—especially around X. I’m curious how you approach Y?”
2️⃣ THE CURATED QUESTION (Keep the play moving)
Ask a thoughtful question that deepens the conversation and invites engagement.
✅Example: “I love this insight, how have you seen this strategy impact [specific result]?”
3️⃣ THE VALUE LINK (Bring in your team)
Tag a peer or connect the post to a relevant trend or insight in your industry.
✅ Example: “ and I were just discussing this challenge, and this is such a perfect illustration!”
This is how you shift from spectator to contributor. From unknown to recognizable.
Because when hiring managers keep seeing your name making smart plays, you’re no longer just another resume in the pile you’re someone they’ve already been watching.
You don’t get recruited from the sidelines.
👉 So tell me, where are you playing right now?
In the stands… or on the field?
