Good Day Esteemed Mustangs!

I’d like to introduce you (virtually) to CAPT Roger Phelps, USN, callsign JUCO, and welcome him back to both Pensacola and as your new ECMA President.

Roger most-recently served as the CO of Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) New Orleans, LA and is now the CO of Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center.

Talk about perfect timing! NTAG representatives were on hand for the USS RICHARD M. MCCOOL, JR. (LPD-29) commissioning events last year when Roger and I exchanged that “Hey, I know you nod”, shook hands, and said “great to see you again." We were both ECMA members when he was assigned to NORU and I was at NETC.

I ask you to stand ready both welcoming and supporting his Mustang heritage and leadership as ECMA surges ahead.

Good morning Mustangs, our Adopt a Highway clean up event planned for next week on Earth Day is postponed. Be on the lookout for more upcoming events. Have a wonderful and blessed holiday weekend!

Last Friday's Bowling turnout was in the "gutter" on attendance. Nevertheless, it proved an excellent mentoring opportunity for several Sailors that were there to roll-off some Friday afternoon excitation into the weekend.

Thanks to LT Ed "Moto" LeMaster for setting it all up and honored to have CAPT (Ret.) Tony McFarlane join us. For those keeping score :-), the retired Mustangs out numbered the active duty attendees yet again!!

Up next is our Adopt-a-Highway on Earth Day~April 22, 2025. We'll meet at the Target Parking Lot on Blue Angel Parkway adjacent to the Tom Thumb gas station for coffee/water/some type of carbs, a safety brief, and then get after it.

Good Morning Mustangs!!

Hoping this finds everyone well. On 7 February 2025, the ECMA Board of Directors Evan Hipsley (Acting President), LT Hershel LeMaster (Treasurer), and CWO2 Kyle Johnson (Secretary) met.

Below are the minutes and announcements from this meeting:

1. ECMA FREE PIZZA AND BOWLING. The board voted to cover the cost for good standing ECMA members for pizza and bowling at the Corry Station Bowling Alley on Friday, 7 March 2025 from 1400-1600. Pay your dues!

2. ECMA 2025 DUES. It is that time of year again to get caught up on your dues for 2025. Dues are only $5 a quarter or $20 for the year!! The best way to pay is either cash/check in-person or electronically via Venmo or CashApp (see below QR Codes).

3. Our Treasurer Hershel was tasked with
our 2025 IRS non-profit tax status.

4. Our new Secretary Kyle was tasked with coordinating with base legal to ensure our base organization status was renewed and in good standing.

5. ADOPT A HIGHWAY. Did you know the ECMA is an Adopt a Highway sponsor? Come join us the morning of 22 April 2025 to celebrate Earth Day as we show our community support picking up trash on our stretch of road that runs from the cross section of South Blue Angel PKWY and Sorrento Rd to South Blue Angel PKWY and Dog Track Rd. Plan to meet in the Target parking at 0900. More information to come as we get closer.

6. MUSTANG MUG BOARD. Did you know that we have our own Mustang Mug Board at the Mustin Officers Club? Claim your spot for future social events. If you are in the market for a new mug, we recommend AJ’s Mugs downtown.

Req dissemination to other local Mustangs and for each command to send their Mustang POC.

If you no longer wish to receive ECMA correspondence, opt out by SEPCOR.
