𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺?

Last week, Joe Licitra shared a devotional about finding confidence and purpose during seasons of transition.

Drawing from his experiences as a VP at Delta Air Lines and later at SITA, Joe spoke candidly about navigating career changes. He shared how faith, community, and helped him move through uncertainty and discover new opportunities.

Joe tied his message to our workshop and he encouraged us to see interviews and job searching as more than a series of transactions. They are opportunities to grow in trust, humility, and preparation.

🛒 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀

✓ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. Joe opened with a prayer asking God to restore confidence after job loss and uncertainty.

✓ 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿. Referencing Matthew 5:16, he encouraged us to reflect faith through professionalism, humility, and service.

✓ 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲. Joe shared how setbacks and detours ultimately led to meaningful opportunities and growth.

His message was simple:

As the workshop ended, that’s what one participant wrote. We used role-play scenarios to learn and practice an ABC framework for closing interviews effectively.

Many job seekers know how to answer . Far fewer know how to close the interview with confidence, address concerns, and ask for the job.

Participants saw how small changes in approach can dramatically improve interview outcomes.

✈️ 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐓𝐋 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐒𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞
𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘰'𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨

Last week, Blair Walker, the Head Chaplain at ATL, shared a story about flying out of Atlanta (as a regular passenger) during the worst days of the TSA lines.

The day before his flight, Blair asked the TSA manager how bad the lines would be the next morning. He replied,

"𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥? 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩."

The next day, Blair located the manager, who personally escorted Blair and his wife through the checkpoint, allowing them to bypass the long wait.

Blair used that experience to illustrate a simple but powerful truth:

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀.

His devotional centered on Philippians 4:6:

"𝘋𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨..."

Drawing from his own experience of , his involvement with , and his at the airport, Blair shared how prayer, perspective, and trust in God helped him navigate uncertain seasons.

𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝙏𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨

✓ 𝗔𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗼'𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹. Just as Blair trusted the person managing the TSA line, we can trust God with circumstances we cannot control.

✓ 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Blair encouraged us to write down our prayers, revisit answered prayers, and invite others to pray with us.

✓ 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. Whether in the airport, during a , or through a health crisis, God is frequently preparing answers before we can see them.

𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚
🍞 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯

In our devotional this week, Travis Wells, RFC reminded us that God often provides moment by moment, not only through dramatic breakthroughs or big life events.

Using Israel’s experience with manna in the wilderness, Travis encouraged job seekers not to resent the current season, but to trust God’s shaping, testing, and timing.

𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴:

✓ 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. The Israelites complained about manna even though it was God’s direct provision. Travis used that example to show how easy it is to overlook today’s blessings while worrying about tomorrow.

✓ 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘂𝘀. From Deuteronomy 8, Travis emphasized that struggle and uncertainty may teach us dependence on God rather than confidence in our own strength.

✓ 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 – 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁. We often romanticize the “good old days” while missing what God is doing right now. Even in transition, He is still working, providing, and preparing.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆❓

When the job search feels uncertain, ask not only “When will this season end?” but also “What might God be teaching me through it?”

🔥 𝘈 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩, 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴.

Glen Gould is a serial entrepreneur and a permanent job seeker. He and his wife, Tammy, have started 12 different service businesses. His bio says some of them even worked. 😲

Last week, Glen shared some of the trials and tribulations of running your own business – and the required when life does not go according to plan.

Using real-life setbacks from his own career, Glen encouraged us to trust God’s timing. He showed how disappointment, delay, and uncertainty can still become part of something better.

𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵:

✓ 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱. Glen opened with Galatians 6:9: “In due time we will reap if we do not grow weary,” urging us to stay faithful even when results are not immediate.

✓ 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. He shared stories of business challenges, loan problems, and COVID-era disruptions to show that closed doors and delays may be part of God leading us to a better outcome.

✓ 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂. Glen echoed the idea of “manna on the ground,” encouraging us to recognize and use the resources, opportunities, and support God has already placed in front of us.

Glen’s message was simple and powerful: we may not know exactly how things will work out, but if we stay faithful, trust God, and keep moving forward, we will make it through.

𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭
⭐ 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 ⭐

This first image hit me hard. When I found it a few years ago, I calculated the age of David James Smith. He was the same age as my son.

I cannot imagine this mother’s grief. 😢

Robert W. (Bob) Byard, Colonel, U.S. Army, retired, led us in a moving tribute last Thursday. His remarks honored service members, veterans, and Gold Star families.

Bob read the poem “𝗜𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿” by Charles Province, reminding us that soldiers – not ministers, reporters, poets, politicians, or lawyers – are the ones who have defended the freedoms we cherish: religion, press, speech, protest, fair trial, and voting.

He also shared a deeply personal reflection. His family has a long military history, including relatives who served in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War II, Vietnam (himself), and the Air Force, including his son’s multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bob also mentioned his son’s upcoming promotion to full colonel – following in the footsteps of a proud father.

While many of us are focused on job searches, career goals, and personal challenges, Bob reminded us to pause and honor the men and women who kept us safe and made those freedoms possible.

On this , let us all:

✓ Remember our fallen service members
✓ Pray for our Gold Star families
✓ Thank our veterans, who stood ready to make the ultimate sacrifice themselves

May you feel and experience God’s presence, peace, protection, power, and provision in your lives.

Last week at JobSeekers, 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝘆 connected a verse from 2 Corinthians to the story of the Road to Emmaus.

Two disciples were walking in discouragement. Their leader had been crucified. Their hopes were crushed. They didn’t recognize Jesus.

In a sense, they had lost their jobs.

Pierre drew a powerful parallel for job seekers: despair doesn’t become strength by sitting still. It changes when we step forward in .

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀

✓ 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Meaningful growth does not happen inside our . We have to step forward and step up before the path becomes clear.

✓ 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹. The early Christians had to move outward to share the Good News. Job seekers must do the same – build relationships, extend influence, and stop relying only on online applications.

✓ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱. The devo tied directly to the topic: developing your exit statement requires courage, clarity, and conviction. You cannot sit silently and expect others to understand your value.

Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, job seekers must move from discouragement to empowerment.
