Your boss can’t just say “figure it out” if you have a medical condition. In many cases, companies are legally required to work with employees on reasonable accommodations. That could mean schedule changes, remote work, extra breaks, leave, or other adjustments that help you do your job.

In California, a doctor’s note generally does not need to include your diagnosis or detailed medical information. It usually only needs to confirm you were seen, the dates you’re unable to work, and any work restrictions or return-to-work date.
