Doctors initially did not think Tim Jones would survive after being shot three times in the head and neck. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, but defied the odds.

A note from Chief Christopher Mannino:

It's budget season, which means my command staff and I are going over numbers and writing narrative for our annual report for 2020. As part of this process each year, I spend a few moments scrolling through our social media feeds. As we are prolific posters about our activities, our past posts remind me of programs we participated in or initiatives we took throughout the year that I might not have had time to note at the time in all of the busyness.

One thing that really struck me by 2020's social media content is the incredible number of our posts thanking individuals, families, and organizations for the many different donations we received. From hand sanitizer, cleaning products and facemasks, to a belly-busting amount of complete meals, snacks and sweet treats, the outpouring of support was incredible. And humbling.

We all went through a very difficult, even historic year in 2020. And that fact that so many people, while going through their own difficulties, thought to think of their local police department is a remarkable testament to who you are. Who we, collectively as a community, are.

I wanted to take a moment to, on behalf of the Park Forest Police Department, thank you. If your actions made it to one of our posts or if you slipped in and out of the station without leaving your name, it was appreciated. Whether a kind word or a wave as we drove by, to the many acts of kindness by bringing something in, you made our 2020 better.

Thanks, Park Forest, and beyond.

As we approach the 5-year anniversary of Officer Tim Jones being critically wounded in the line of duty on March 19, we have obtained a new supply of stickers. Stickers are $3 each (cash only) and can be bought in-person at the Park Forest Police Department. All proceeds go directly to Tim and his care.

Expect some exciting updates in the coming days!

All cars on our Area J Fir and Juniper Street loop (west of Forest), need to be moved by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22nd. The Village will be out to clear the loop. Please contact our office with any questions. ❄️ 🛻

We have a job to do. Vehicles in violation of parking on the road over 72 hours, especially on snow routes or after heavy snowfall like we’ve had, narrows the roadway. This makes travel difficult for residents, difficult for postal delivery, makes continued plowing problematic, and can obstruct public safety vehicles, especially larger ones like fire trucks, from responding to emergencies.

As we work to help clear our roadways, however, we remain compassionate to those whose violations are caused by circumstances beyond their control. This email is an example of the type that gets sent out as we work with residents.

If you are unable to move your snowbound vehicle due to health issues, please call us at (708) 748-4701. We can’t promise we’ll have the ability to dig you out, but we can work with you for your particular situation.

And thank you to all of our wonderful residents who have helped a neighbor out. It takes a Village.

Meanwhile in Park Forest, Illinois. Thankful for our hardworking staff. ❄️

This majestic, snow covered mountain of Park Forest is, unfortunately, the result of several ordinance violations.

Parking on the roadway over 72 hours without moving is a violation.

Parking on a snow route after 2” of snowfall is also a violation.

We’d rather not write citations, so if your vehicle on the roadway resembles the snow capped peak of Denali, please get it dug out and moved so our plows can get our roadways cleaned up. If you have physical challenges that make this difficult, please call us at non-emergency (708) 748-4701.

What a blessing to have a new addition to our J family. Congratulations to our very own Jason and Ana on baby Zeke! 💙
