Every family has a story, this is from our President, Sherry Lucki.
I was blessed with the opportunity to attend my Father-in-Laws' Celebration of Life this past weekend.
Mr. Lucki lived a very long and productive life. He really was the fulfillment of the American Dream. He was wrested from his family in Poland at the age of 17. He was taken by train to Germany and put into a slave labor camp by the German Government during WWII.
He never saw his family members again.
After the War, Mr. Lucki was married, he had a couple of children and lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany.
His number finally came up and in 1951, he and the family were approved for immigration to the the United States. From that moment forward, Mr. Lucki became a Patriot of the United States of America. He loved and appreciated his new country. He always appreciated the opportunities provided to him by our Country. He never took the country for granted. His children were raised to love and respect this country and to always participate in the democratic systems and values created by this country!
He truly shared his love of his country and his gratitude. He was the first to reach out to other people immigrating from other countries. His generosity was fabled in his community.
This man lived his life as a Patriot. He was a person committed to fulfilling the vision of the American dream. His life was not always easy. He had many challenges and obstacles to contend with. Throughout it all, he nurtured his love of his new Country and always had a faith that better days were ahead.
I know that this country is made up of millions of people quietly living their lives as patriots. He was one of many. And yet, to all whose lives he touched, he was a star who brought dignity and courage through his example!
This life represents the Spirit of the United States of America! A picture of what it is to love and honor ones country...to be a Patriot!
