Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets to support the Omro Rushford Volunteer Fire Department. It was a pretty great night at the Street Dance! AND.... we won the coveted golden fireboot for selling the most tickets!!! It's pretty awesome to see the community step up for all our wonderful volunteer firefighters and first responders!

At Bartel Executive Search, we track our metrics very closely. I was feeling a bit anxious regarding our time-to-fill metrics over the last few weeks until I looked at previous years.

One thing that stands out is that coordinating interviews tends to take longer than almost any other season.

Candidates and hiring teams alike are taking advantage of the beautiful weather, kids being out of school, and long-awaited vacations. That can make scheduling interviews a bit tricky.

Interviews get pushed out, and hiring decisions take longer than anyone would prefer.

It’s not that there isn’t an urgency to hire; logistics just become more challenging.

We make it a point to communicate with clients and candidates. I firmly believe that reaching out for an update (even when it’s just to let them know there isn’t an update yet) is so important. Patience and communication have to be a part of the interview/hiring process.

The process may move a bit slower, but great opportunities and talent are still out there and moving forward!

We’ve been seeing some pretty significant bank acquisitions lately. It definitely raises some big questions for our industry.

Will community banks still exist 10 years from now?

Consolidation across banking continues as smaller institutions face increasing regulatory pressure, technology costs, succession challenges, and competition from larger financial institutions.

Some industry experts are pointing to a sharp rebound in bank M&A activity heading into 2026, particularly among community and regional banks.

But we continue to hear from candidates, clients, and local businesses. They believe that relationships still matter.

Community banks know their markets.

They know their customers and communities.

These community-focused banks still play a big role in local lending and community growth.

There will always be a demand for trusted advisors and personalized banking experiences.

Don’t worry! She won’t be running into any burning buildings. Her specialty is spreading smiles, greeting visitors, and helping sell the MOST raffle tickets this year!
