🔴Interview with Dan Jones, owner of IT Resources.🔴
👉How long have you been donating blood?
My first donation was in March of 2004. I was an occasional donor until 2010 and stopped for a few years. During COVID, I did some reading and realized my blood type, O negative, was always needed by blood banks, plus after we had a team members spouse need multiple units of blood a couple years ago during a procedure, I’ve been going as often as I can go.
👉Why do you donate?
It was something that I could do to make a difference in others’ lives. I have been told my blood is also CMV negative, a common virus/antibody. My blood type is always in demand for premature babies and immunocompromised, who can develop life threatening flu from CMV positive blood.
👉How much have you donated?
I recently joined the 5-gallon club, which is 40 individual one-pint donations!
👉What is special about giving blood?
To know that I am helping save others’ lives, especially premature babies.
👉How many times a year to you give and when you give how much blood is taken from your body?
You can donate whole blood every 8 weeks. Your body contains about 10 pints of blood, although I was once told I have at least 12! Ha! 😊
If I forget, One-blood gives me a call as a gentle reminder to make a difference!
👉Is it hard to recover from giving blood?
No, not at all. I might notice when working out, but never for more than a couple days and not at all during normal day to day activities. I would encourage others to give as well if they can.
