OAEC - Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives

OAEC - Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives Okla. Assn. of Electric Coops is a statewide association representing 30 co-ops in Oklahoma. We are powering lives and empowering communities.

The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC) is a statewide association created and voluntarily supported by local electric distribution and generation & transmission cooperatives. OAEC is comprised of 30 member systems: 27 distribution electric cooperatives (two of which are headquartered in Arkansas) and 3 generation & transmission electric cooperatives (one of which is headquartered

in Texas). OAEC was established in 1942 to serve as a unified voice for electric co-ops and to collectively perform services which would not be economical or practical for each individual cooperative to perform alone. The purpose of OAEC’s social media pages is two-fold: 1) To help connect members of Oklahoma's electric cooperatives with each other in ways related to our mission of powering lives and empowering communities and 2) To educate and inform the general public, legislators, emergency responders, media, and civic groups on the role and purpose of electric cooperatives. Our social media presence will reflect our cooperatives’ commitment to provide safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy to every consumer-member while investing in the communities they serve. We welcome and encourage your comments. To keep the discussion in the cooperative spirit, we have developed guidelines for our social media followers. Please note OAEC reserves the right to remove any post we feel does not support the values described in the guidelines offered below. The following types of comments are discouraged and may be removed at any time at the discretion of OAEC management:

• Any post we believe to be inappropriate, rude, offensive, or that contains vulgar language or personal attacks of any kind;

• Any comments related to local Oklahoma electric co-op governance or issues (such as electric bills, personnel, or local board elections) – those types of comments are better addressed directly with the specific local co-op. While OAEC management may at any time work with an electric cooperative member-system to relay consumer concerns or questions expressed on our social media pages, please note OAEC is not a regulatory body;

• Unsolicited advertising and comments that include advertising links to other sites; advocating illegal activity, promoting particular services, products, political or advocacy organizations, or that infringe on copyrights or trademarks;

• Those who repeatedly post inappropriate content will be blocked from commenting on this page;

• Please don't post information about local electric outages - those should be directed to your local electric co-op for timely response;

• OAEC WILL NOT publish or promote political ads nor will OAEC endorse candidates running for public office. OAEC reserves the right to delete any and all posts made by OAEC social media followers that endorse and/or promote political candidates;

• OAEC may, from time to time, publish content related to current elected officials who are not running for office at the time of publication;

• Likes, follows and interactions are not endorsements. OAEC is neither responsible for the content nor endorses any site which has a link to or from this page;

• Please do not post any personal information. You risk your own security and privacy. OAEC cannot guarantee that private information shared on social media pages will be protected;

• Please note OAEC’s social media pages are not monitored 24/7, 365 days of the year. While staff strives to keep a watchful eye on all social media interactions, there may be occasions that responses will be delayed outside of normal business hours. We want you to find our OAEC social media pages to be a fun, engaging, informational and interactive experience. Thank you for abiding by these guidelines and for following OAEC’s social media platforms.

👀 Did you know more than 3,000 postcards from co-op members were delivered to lawmakers during this past legislative session?

⚡️ 👏 THANK YOU to the many members who returned the postcard included in Oklahoma Living Magazine and made your voices heard. With Election Day approaching on June 16, your local rural electric cooperative encourages you to support leaders who value rural Oklahoma and are committed to strengthening our communities.

Let your vote reflect the importance of safe, reliable and affordable electricity — and the quality of life that powers rural Oklahoma.

Congratulations!!! 🎉🇺🇸

Congratulations to Davin Budy of Alfalfa Electric Cooperative on his selection as a United States Department of Agriculture Partnerships and Public Engagement Intern in Washington, D.C.

Davin represented Oklahoma on Youth Tour in 2024, and we are proud to see him continuing to pursue opportunities that allow him to learn, grow, and serve.

One of the goals of Youth Tour is to expose students to new experiences and help them see what is possible beyond their hometowns. For Davin, that experience helped open the door to opportunities in our nation’s capital.

When sharing the news of his internship, Davin said, “I probably wouldn’t have wanted to come to D.C. if it wasn’t for the Youth Tour.”

Moments like this remind us why Youth Tour matters. The trip may last a week, but the impact can last a lifetime.

Congratulations, Davin. We can’t wait to see all you accomplish.

Championing the co-op voice in DC 🇺🇸⚡️

This week, our General Manager/CEO, Nicki Fuller, visited with Oklahoma members of congress on issues that are important for electric cooperatives such as FEMA, permitting reform and the Southwest Power Administration revolving fund.

Huge thanks to Congressman Kevin Hern and Senator Alan Armstrong for taking time to listen and for their support of the co-op mission.

As a bonus, Nicki had the opportunity to visit with Oklahoma Youth Tour alum, Quinn Williams with Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, Inc. who is currently interning with Senator Armstrong.

The co-op voice remains strong on Capitol Hill.

Today, we prepared an incredible group of leaders to guide, mentor and inspire students during Oklahoma Youth Tour. From leadership development to creating lifelong memories, these chaperones play a huge role in making Youth Tour impactful and fun.

Thank you to each chaperone for dedicating your time, energy and heart to investing in the next generation. We can't wait to for Youth Tour in less than two weeks! ✈️🇺🇸

Congratulations! 🎉🇺🇸

Congratulations! 🎉🇺🇸

Please join us in congratulating Quinn Williams from Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, Inc. as she begins her internship with Senator Alan Armstrong today!

Quinn attended the Oklahoma Youth Tour in 2022 and is a student at the University of Arkansas. Since her Youth Tour experience, she has continued to pursue opportunities in public service, leadership, and government.

We are excited to see Quinn become one of the Oklahoma Youth Tour alumni taking advantage of opportunities made possible through the relationships and experiences gained through the program.

At Oklahoma Youth Tour, the journey doesn't end when delegates return home from Washington, D.C. Opportunities such as internships, leadership development, networking, and careers in public service can begin with a single trip.

Congratulations, Quinn! We are proud of you and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish during your time at the Capitol.

Congratulations!!! 🎉🇺🇸

Congratulations!!! 🎉🇺🇸

We love seeing our Youth Tour alumni continue to grow into leaders!

Congratulations to 2024 Oklahoma Youth Tour delegate Thomas Hurst on beginning his internship in Congressman Frank Lucas office at the U.S. Capitol. 🇺🇸

Thomas is the first-ever Youth Tour alum to participate in this internship opportunity through our partnership with Congressman Lucas’s office, and we can’t wait to see all he accomplishes.

Experiences like these are exactly what the Oklahoma Youth Tour is all about: opening doors, building connections, and preparing the next generation of leaders.

And one more fun fact… Thomas’s brother will be representing Oklahoma on Youth Tour THIS year!
